Has your style and your shopping behavior changed after becoming a mum?
My style changed a lot when I moved from New York to London. Being a mum made me realize that I have no time to think about complicated, outfitted looks and that I am better off having pieces I love, and only what I love, in my wardrobe.
You have recently launched Kids O’Clock, a platform for selling and buying pre-loved kid's clothes. Tell us how you came up with the idea?
I have always purchased pre-loved for myself, when in New York with The RealReal and more recently in London with Vestiaire Collective or Imparfaite.
I have also been selling a lot, I do not attach much importance to items, I attach importance to memories, so closet cleanses are easy for me!
What are your favorite places for vintage shopping
Saturday mornings on Golborne Road in West London are my absolute favorite!! I love Etsy and Imparfaite. Both are very different and it depends on my mood where I like to shop.
Tell us why you consider the Kate in black a timeless piece of clothing?
It is a timeless piece, because it is a staple, a piece that can be part of many looks. I think trends are a reflection of our society and really strong marketing agencies.
I am always seeking creativity and novelty, but when it comes to dressing up and owning items, they need to be timeless. We are a swiping generation, if something isn’t here to stay, it will disappear very quickly.
Explain the three looks you have styled with the Kate in black?
I dress for day to night. It’s very important that I feel comfortable in what I wear, without always wearing my basic tees.
The Kate in black is the perfect staple to have in your closet. I pair it with the horse printed pants for a day full of work meetings.
For an early evening at the pub and a dinner with friends I wear it with flared denim and a ribbon in my hair.
When it gets colder I’d simply throw on my embroidered jacket.
What are other wardrobe staples of yours and your go to brands for such?
My denim staples are from Re/Done, good cashmere from Alexandra Golovanoff, fun and cheerful jewelry from Gag&Lou.
What are your favorite Instagram accounts to follow for inspiration right now?
I don’t follow Instagram for inspiration, I am a lot on Etsy and Pinterest!
Cliché French girl – what is typically French about your style?
I have no idea, I think the myth is stronger than the reality. I was told my messy hair and fringe are me being French. I think people like to put others in boxes. My nickname at the office was Baguette. I loved it.
Do you have any tricks on how to change up your look without constantly buying new things?
A 1000! Ha! Add a sweater on top of a summer dress and it’s the perfect cozy yet cute look. Wear boots with any denim and the silhouette is changed. I find that jewelry helps a lot. My friend created Daphine and they do strong jewelry at cheerful prices.
What are the most treasured pieces in your wardrobe and why?
Pieces that remind me of good times. I have this black little dress with gold threading bought in Brooklyn for five dollars. I wear it in the summer with no layer and sandals, in fall with a turtleneck underneath and boots or in winter with big tights and a cozy maxi sweater.
A long hippie dress I bought in Ibiza at my favorite shop Vicente Ganesha. We were on a family trip and it was the dream.
